The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is the business arm of Florida government with the primary mission to support sister agencies and current and former state employees with workforce- and business-related functions so they can focus on their core missions as defined in law. The agency's motto is We Serve Those Who Serve Florida. The head of the Department of Management Services is the Agency Secretary who is appointed by the Governor and subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. There is no set term limit; the Secretary serves at the pleasure of the Governor. Governor Rick Scott named Chad Poppell as the agency's secretary, effective December 16, 2014. The Florida Department of Management Services' 1.1 million customers include: state agencies, state employees, state retirees, universities, community colleges, and local governments and their retirees. Residents, visitors and businesses of Florida are also consumers of DMS products and services. ==Organization== The Department of Management Services (DMS) is a Governor's agency. The Secretary is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and executing the powers, duties, and functions vested in the agency, its divisions, bureaus, and other subunits. Within the Office of the Secretary are: Chief of Staff, Office of Communications, Legislative Affairs, Office of the General Counsel, Office of the Inspector General, Information Technology and Office of Supplier Diversity. The Chief of Staff oversees the Office of Communications and the Office of Supplier Diversity.
